Back Pain and Sciatica
Typical symptoms include:
- A sharp, searing pain that starts in the low back or buttock and travels down one leg.
- Burning, electric-shock sensations, tingling or “pins & needles” down the leg.
- Numbness, weakness in the leg or foot, difficulty sitting or standing.
- Worse when you sit for long, twist, bend or lift because the nerve is being irritated or compressed.
Common underlying causes:
- Herniated or bulging discs pressing on the nerve.
- Spinal stenosis or foraminal narrowing (less room for the nerve).
- Muscle tightness or piriformis syndrome irritating the sciatic nerve tunnel.
- Postural misalignment and structural weaknesses that allow nerve irritation to recur.
Pain pills, “pop-and-go” adjustments, endless muscle relaxers may help for a moment, but the pain always returns.
